Well, since I wasn't included in the 24 Hour Film Festival, I still wrote a script for what I was thinking about doing. And, although I was never given a theme, action, or object, I gave myself my own object (Coin), action (Use of Jar), and theme (The Unknown Truth).
So, here it is!!!!
So, here it is!!!!
START!
Scene One:
Boy 1 walks down the street. He has nerdy glasses, and his backpack is very high. He walks slowly. Bully 1 and friends run up behind him, and shoves him into the bushes. They laugh and run away. The boy struggles in the bush. QB walks up and offers his helping hand. (Camera close up on hand, and then the other boy grabbing the hand) Boy 1 rubs his hands on his jeans, and looks up to thank the boy. But, QB is nowhere in sight. Boy 1 looks down on the ground, and notices a quarter. He picks it up and flips it over. He looks around one more time and walks away.
Scene Two:
Girl 1 sits with her back against a tree, feet bunched up near her stomach, and is crying her eyes out into her knees. She hears footsteps in the grass and looks up. QB walks over to her and sits down next to her. QB places his hand onto her hand. She squeezes his hand. Girl 1 begins crying again. QB sits with her until she is ‘all cried out,’ and Girl 1 stands up. She bends down pick up her bag, and when she looks back up, QB is walking away. She calls out to him. He turns and stares at her. She smiles. He smiles. They both turn away. Girl 1 looks at her enclosed palm, slowly opens it, and looks at a quarter. She walks away.
Scene Three:
Boy 2 walks in the empty hallway with a large pile of books. The stack is very large, and the boy struggles with looking to see where he is going. He begins walking down the stairs and into the library in the middle of the locker room when he trips and stumbles to the ground. He immediately begins picking up the books. QB walks over, picks up a book and hands it to the boy. The boy looks up, thankfully, at QB. QB helps with the rest of the books, and turns away. Boy 2 holds his hand up, wanting to say something, but QB is already almost out of the door. Boy 2 looks down and sees the quarter. He picks it up and stares at it, and then the door in which QB walked out of. Boy 2 walks out of the library and locker room.
Camera zoom over to the door that QB left. See him watching the boy look at the quarter, smile and walk away. QB smiles and turns away. Camera follow him home. When he gets home, show a staircase with a balcony. QB Mom begins yelling at him. QB looks down and walks away. Camera show QB Mom screaming some more, and then a door slam.
Show QB in his room. QB lays down on his bed and closes his eyes. QB opens his eyes again and a tear streams down his face.
Scene 4:
The next day, Boy 1 walks to school. He picks up a school newspaper and begins reading it. Boy 1 freezes and camera closes up on his shocked face.
Show newspaper. Camera glide across title: Cedar Brook High School. Camera show top headline: Cedar Brook B-Ball Team Beats Valley Oak! 10-2. Camera moves down paper until it gets to the corner at the bottom. Camera zoom in and read title: Teen Suicide Strikes the School. Have it show a picture of QB sorta-smiling. Move down into the small one-paragraph article. Close up on words: 14-year-old, bullied, sadness, horrible, just plain mean, investigation.
Scene Five:
Camera close up on green grass and a pair of converse walking. Turn camera around, and show a large, empty cemetery.
Boy 1 stops at the very first tombstone and looks around. He takes a deep breath and begins walking again. He passes more tombstones, not bothering to look at them. Camera show his face being determined and his eyes looking straight ahead.
Back camera up so it shows large piece of land, and you can barely see Boy 1 walking. Watch him finally stop a tombstone and freeze. Have him stare at it for a long while, and have camera glance at the writing on it, skipping the name: April 18th, 1998- May 25th, 2012 “Life should be lived to the fullest as long as you still call it yours”
Look at the boys face, which now has a tear streaming down it. Camera shows boys’ pocket, and boy inserting his hand into the pocket. Watch him pull out the quarter, and flip it over in his hands. Show whole boy bending down and beginning to place the quarter at the center of the tombstone where a small arrange of flowers lie. Have the boy notice another quarter from a camera staring from a side view. Show the whole tombstone again, and how it is covered with a line of quarters moving to the edge of the right side. Camera move along the line of quarters just as the boys eyes would. Move the camera to watch the boy place his hand around the back of the tombstone, and pull out a jar full of quarters. The boy places the jar down in the middle of the front of the tombstone. Camera watch him place the quarter into the jar. Camera close up as it falls into the already almost-full jar. Camera watch boy stand up and walk away. Camera look back down on the ground and close-up on a flower.
Camera fade to black.
THE END!
